Alloy 625  3.0mm cold drawn and annealed Round Bar
Alloy 625 (Inconel 625) is a nickel-chromium-molybdenum alloy with an addition of niobium. While Alloy 600 and 601 rely on chromium for heat resistance, Alloy 625 uses its high molybdenum and niobium content to gain superior mechanical strength and resistance to aggressive corrosion, even without specific heat treatment.

Typical Applications for Alloy 625 Round Bar

  • Marine & Subsea Engineering:
    • Propeller Blades & Propulsion Shafting: Its high fatigue strength and resistance to saltwater pitting make it ideal for high-stress marine hardware.
    • Subsea Tethering & Cables: Used for components that must remain submerged for decades without corroding.
    • Transducer Controls: Resists the crushing pressure and corrosive nature of deep-sea environments.
  • Aerospace & Defense:
    • Aircraft Ducting Systems: Used for fuel and hydraulic line tubing because it can handle high pressure and extreme vibration without cracking.
    • Engine Exhaust Systems: Resists oxidation and maintains strength at temperatures up to 982°C (1800°F).
    • Rocket Motor Components: Chosen for its reliability in both the cryogenic cold of liquid fuel and the heat of combustion.
  • Chemical & Petrochemical Processing:
    • Bubble Towers & Distillation Columns: Resists organic acids and oxidizing chemicals better than most stainless steels.
    • Flue Gas Desulfurization (FGD) Systems: Used in "scrubbers" that remove sulfur from power plant emissions, where the environment is highly acidic and abrasive.
    • Nuclear Reactor Components: Used for control rod sensors and structural parts in the reactor core.
  • Oil & Gas Industry:
    • Flare Bridges: Handles the intense radiant heat and corrosive gases at the top of offshore drilling rigs.
    • Sour Gas Components: Resists hydrogen sulfide and chloride-induced stress corrosion cracking, which is vital for "sour" wells
