Due to its high-temperature strength up to 700 °C (1300 °F), excellent corrosion resistance and ease of fabrication ALLOY718 finds applications in many fields including oil and gas and seawater environment.

Alloy 718 (Inconel 718) is a precipitation-hardened nickel-chromium alloy engineered for high strength and corrosion resistance in extreme environments. It performs reliably from cryogenic temperatures up to 704°C (1300°F), making it ideal for components exposed to high heat, pressure, and continuous mechanical stress.

Unlike general oxidation-resistant alloys such as Alloy 600, Alloy 718 is specifically designed for structural load-bearing applications. Its precipitation-hardening mechanism delivers exceptional tensile strength, fatigue resistance, and creep resistance — allowing parts to maintain dimensional stability and mechanical integrity over long service periods.

Key Applications

Aerospace & Jet Engines
Widely used in turbine engine components such as compressor blades, discs, combustion chambers, and high-strength fasteners. It withstands extreme centrifugal forces and elevated temperatures in critical engine sections.

Oil & Gas (HPHT Environments)
Ideal for downhole tools, wellhead components, and subsea valves exposed to high pressure, high temperature, and sour gas (H₂S). Alloy 718 resists stress corrosion cracking and mechanical failure in harsh drilling conditions.

Defense & Space
Used in rocket engines and missile components where rapid thermal cycling and structural strength are critical.

Nuclear Engineering
Applied in fuel assembly spacer grids and springs due to its ability to retain strength under high heat and radiation exposure.

Alloy 718 round bars are commonly machined into high-performance fasteners and precision components
