Invar Alloy – Ultra-Low Expansion Material for Critical Industrial Applications
Invar (Fe-Ni 36 alloy) is engineered for applications where dimensional stability across temperature fluctuations is non-negotiable. With an exceptionally low coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE), Invar is the preferred material for aerospace tooling, precision instrumentation, cryogenic systems, and high-stability structural components.
In aerospace manufacturing, Invar is widely specified for carbon fiber composite molds used in aircraft programs such as the Boeing 787 and Airbus A350, ensuring accurate part geometry during autoclave curing. In satellite and optical systems, it maintains alignment of sensors, mirrors, and structural supports under extreme thermal cycling.
For metrology and scientific equipment, Invar prevents thermal drift in laser housings, electron microscopy stages, and geodetic measuring systems—preserving measurement accuracy over time. In telecommunications and RF applications, it stabilizes cavity dimensions to prevent frequency shift. In cryogenic energy systems, including LNG membrane tanks and high-capacity transmission conductors, Invar resists contraction and thermal sag, improving structural reliability and service life.
